Gerard Cohen Monaco was born in Switzerland in the year 1953, and he grew up to be a successful banker working as the head of one of the best Swiss banks. Since his early years after school, he has dedicated his life to the private banking, and this has helped him in growing his skills that have seen him succeed in private banking. The Private Banker started his career in banking back in the year 1978 when he was working for the Republic National Bank of New York. Then, he was under the leadership of Edmond Safra who is a legendary in banking and comes from Geneva. Edmond supervised Gerard Cohen Monaco until the year 1985. After serving with the National Bank of New York, he later became the head of private banking at the Banque Safra Luxembourg where he served for six years before he became the MD of the National Bank of New York. Under his leadership, the bank was bought by the HSBC in 1999. After the bank was acquired, the name was changed, and it was now known as HSBC Private Bank of Monaco. Gerard Cohen Monaco retained his position as the head of the bank until the year 2016 when he resigned.

Gerard Cohen Monaco Other Interests

While still working in the banking industry, Gerard Cohen Monaco had his other interests which included Arts. For 12 years, he served as a member of IDC of the Guggenheim Museum in NY. His passion for Arts has continued even after he resigned from the banking industry and he is currently working as the director of Helmut Newton Foundation. Other achievements in life include being the founder member of the International School of Monaco back in the year 1994. Since then, Gerard Cohen Monaco is still involved in running the school serving as the chairman of trustees. The school offers both the primary and the post-primary school education. It is also one of the schools in Monaco that offers the students bilingual education. Gerard Cohen Monaco is a member of various not for profit organisations and also nongovernmental organisations. He serves as the Corporate Director of one of the organisations that focus on Monaco business tourism known as Grimaldi Forum.

The biggest awards Gerard Cohen Monaco has received include the Order of Saints Charles which he was awarded in the year 2008 by the Albert II the prince of Monaco. The year2012 he was also awarded the Order of Cultural Merit in Monaco.
